Hiccups at Bubble London January 2011

Hiccups will be exhibiting for the very first time at the A/W 2011 edition of the children's trade fair Bubble London!

The Bubble trade fair is held at the Business Design Centre in Islington, on the 30th - 31st of January.

You can take a look at the very informative Bubble London blog here - a great source of the latest trends and happenings in design for children.

Inspired by Mexico

A couple of Hiccups items have been featured in the bumper Summer 2010/11 edition of the Shop 4 Kids magazine. Pictured above - our Lola flag banner (AU$29.95) and Pinata cushion (AU$19.95). I love this cheerful collection of Mexican inspired products, especially that little blue chair....

Not a lot of blogging going on

In the last six weeks the Linen House Design Studio has been burgled TWICE, with the robbers making off with a carload of computers and equipment. Therefore I haven't been able to spend very much time at all in my beloved blogging land. The security has been well and truly upped so hopefully this disruptive thieving won't ever happen again, but I thought I would share with you Melissa's very own designer style anti-theft device. En garde!

Just in time for Christmas - the Hiccups printed bed linen designs 'Sunnyside' and 'Around the World' are now available for purchase in the bed linen department of the recently launched Myer online gift store.

On the home stretch

Here is a little snippet of a new design I have been working on - a sweet little farmyard scene for girls.

Paper Daisies

I spotted these spectacular Australian native daisies in the Royal Melbourne Botanical Gardens on the weekend, after a visit to the biennial Art of Botanical Illustration exhibition. The exhibition of around 150 botanical paintings and drawings is on display until the 21st of November 2010, at Domain House, Dallas Brooks Drive, South Yarra.
A fellow (and very talented) designer at Linen House, Jacqui Baxter, has two paintings hanging in the exhibition. Hopefully she will inspire me to complete a painting in time for the next exhibition in two years! I think these paper daisies bracteantha bracteata (thanks google) would be quite a nice subject matter....

A marvellous menagerie

What fun (and patience!) the stylists at Anthropologie must have when creating the wonderful images found inside their always inspiring brochures?
These gorgeous creatures and equally gorgeous products (I love that mint green 'Anais' bag) can be found starring in the Anthropologie November 2010 catalogue.

Yumi

Yumi is a Japanese Kokeshi doll and this picture book takes the reader on a cultural excursion into her bustling, colourful and pattern filled world.
Yumi loves to dress up, and has a fine wardrobe filled with beautiful kimonos and accessories. Today Yumi is off to a party with her friend Sakumi, and you can join them on a day filled with many adventures.

Annelore Parot's wonderful illustrations and clever paper engineering techniques combine to produce a delightful book that little fingers will love to peruse over again and again in search of the many hidden details. And much older readers with an interest in Japanese textile design will find this title becomes a favourite too!

Yumi by Annelore Parot is published in Australia by Hardie Grant, 2010.
Yumi was first published in French by Editions Milan in 2009.

Catch of the Day

Nothing speaks of summer more to me than a meal of fresh fish and chips on the beach. (These Hiccups fish theme cushions are not all that tasty but are very cuddly!)
Come on summer!
