Patterns from the Past

Pattern Design: A Period Design Sourcebook by Sian Evans (published by The National Trust) is a great resource book for textile designers and pattern admirers. I particularly love the many bird images from different design periods that have been included in the collection. Available here from Amazon UK.

Eucalyptus

Happy Australia Day! Here is my half-finished watercolour painting of a very Australian subject - gum leaves. I am trying my best to complete it , but as the tennis is on I'm a little distracted. Well, it is Nadal....

Take 'A Walk in New York'

Talented London-based illustrator Salvatore Rubbino is the creator of this wonderful children's book — 'A Walk in New York', published by Walker Books (2009).
Spend a day exploring the landmarks and exciting sights, sounds and smells of New York with a father and son, learning lots of facts along the way. Fancy a hot dog anyone?

At the back of the book you can find a set of postcards with classic New York images, a great New York keepsake!
I bought my copy from the Avenue Bookstore, Albert Park, Vic.

Axel strikes a pose

Here is a photo of Axel who visited the studio today. Axel is the son of Vanessa - the assistant Product Manager for the Hiccups range.

Axel loves Hiccups (well, it's not like he can disagree or anything!).

For Tractor lovers

Some great tractor print t-shirts from Danish brand Smafolk.
And for a tractor lover's bedroom - how about 'Field Days' bedlinen and accessories?

My First Nursery Book

'My First Nursery Book' is a wonderful classic children's book illustrated by Polish artist Franciska Themerson (b.Warsaw 1907, d.London 1988) in 1947. This new edition, published by Tate Publishing is a great introduction to Themerson's distinctive and imaginative style.

Animals on Parade

New from Chronicle Books are these very cute notecards by Sukie. I love the hand-printed style, the motifs, the packaging... I guess I will just have to add these to my Sukie stash!
